The Baby Blue Textile Recovery Bins (Donation Bins) are located at The McKenna Basketball Courts on Walden Street, The Public Landing on Shirley Street, and by the DPW yard on Kennedy Drive.
All textiles are banned from trash collection per the MASSDEP. The Town of Winthrop has a textile collection agreement with CMRK, Inc. to recover all textiles. Textiles include all clothing, shoes, bedding (No pillows or foam mattress covers,) linens, curtains, hats, belts, underwear, socks, stuffed toys, costumes, and more. These items are sorted for reuse. Items that can be worn again are separated and donated. Textiles no longer able to be worn are separated for shop rags, fiber for insulation, carpet padding, and soundproofing materials. The only unacceptable items are contaminated, wet, or moldy textiles.
Textiles never go in your recycling bin; they are also banned from trash.
